April 03, 2026

BlackRock’s Q2 2026 equity outlook flags AI broadening, U.S. market rotation, and global value pockets investors should watch now.

BlackRock has released its Q2 2026 Equity Market Outlook.

The report signals a significant shift in how markets are treating major investment themes. Reversals and rotations are defining early 2026 trading.

AI, once a straightforward winner, is now entering a more complex phase. Analysts at the firm say investors must dig deeper to find real opportunity.

AI Investment Opportunities Widen Beyond Big Tech

The asset manager says the AI theme is no longer a blanket win for all technology players.

Markets are now separating companies based on how they actually benefit from AI adoption. This growing dispersion is changing how investors approach the sector.

BlackRock notes that more demanding investor questions are filtering out weaker AI plays. The result is greater stock-level volatility within technology.

Some companies are thriving while others face renewed scrutiny.

This recalibration, however, is not a negative signal. It points to a maturing investment landscape. The firm believes those who anticipate change within AI will have a sharper edge going into mid-2026.

U.S. Stock Market Broadening Creates Stock-Picking Openings

Calls for a broader U.S. market rally have circulated for years.

BlackRock’s Fundamental Equities Global CIO Carrie King says the timing may finally be right. Mega-cap stocks still lead earnings growth, but they are no longer leading market returns.

King points out that markets are forward-looking by nature.

The recent rotation in returns may reflect early expectations of wider fundamental strength across sectors. This shift creates fresh ground for active stock selection.

The firm does not expect broadening to happen all at once.

Instead, it sees interesting pockets developing gradually. That makes careful stock selection especially important in the months ahead.

Global Equity Value Surfaces in Europe, UK, and Japan

Beyond the U.S., BlackRock’s International CIO Helen Jewell identifies overlooked value in several regions.

European defense stocks and banks stand out on her global scan. She also points to select UK banks and small caps as worth attention.

In emerging markets, Latin America is often mentioned as a region with underappreciated potential.

Jewell stresses that an active approach is essential to navigate ongoing geopolitical swings. Few global equity indexes are priced at a discount right now, making selectivity key.

Japan also draws optimism in the outlook. A February election delivered a pro-growth government, reinforcing existing tailwinds like supportive monetary policy and corporate reform efforts.

BlackRock’s Japan team sees individual stock selection across sectors as the best way to capture continued earnings growth there.
